Asics Gel-Kayano 14 "Clay Grey/Pure Silver"
Asics Gel-Kayano 14 has taken flight over the last few years. The one-time running shoe — it was first released in 2008 and was the first model in the Kayano series not designed by Toshikazu Kayano — has enjoyed wind beneath its wings as it’s soared to become a lifestyle favorite thanks in part to high-heat collaborations with the likes of JJJJound, Angelo Baque, ICE STUDIOS and Field Trip Records. It's in-line colorways are definitely not for the birds either, and now the Gel-Kayano 14 has been released in an aerial-appropriate "Clay Grey/Pure Silver" makeup.
Most Gel-Kayano 14s opt for a mixture of mesh and synthetic materials, but this colorway’s main stylistic twist is that most of the synthetics have flown the coop and are replaced with supple grey suedes. However, you never want to land too far away from your nest, so signature metallic silver tones still roost on the midfoot’s Tiger Stripe and other accents. What really gives this Gel-Kayano 14 its avian appeal, however, is the inclusion of ornithological orange on the tongue, midfoot and heel. A sail midsole and black GEL cushioning units round off the look.
